Ignorance is Bliss

I did a stupid thing. 

After months of false starts and stops, I finally took the leap into the blogging world (this is a good thing).  However, being someone who always feels better when armed with all the facts, I did a stupid thing...and looked up how many blogs currently exist on the internet.  According to Neilsen.com, there are OVER 181 MILLION blogs in the world...and that was in 2011.  There have got to be over 200 million by now and counting...make that 200 million and one.  But that was just the beginning of my blog education.  Here I thought I was looking for one simple statistic and instead, I was given a bounty of information.  For example, did you know that the majority of bloggers are college-educated women with children still at home (also known as moms).  Well...guess I fit right in then, right?  Apparently, the only thing I have going for me is that I'm older than half the women on the internet...hurray for birthdays!!!

But then I remembered that regardless of whether there are two or two hundred million bloggers out there, there is only one blogger with my voice, my experiences, my perspectives, my sense of humor, and my heart and soul...and that is the blog that I will create and share with you.  It is a blog that no one else can write but one in which we all can share.  I will share my story and my journeys with you in the hopes that it resonates with you and teases out a common ground on which we can connect.  Sometimes I'll be introspective, sometimes I'll be reactive, sometimes I'll be sarcastic, sometimes I'll be self-deprecating, and sometimes I'll be funny (hopefully).  I have a strong faith so that is sure to enter in to many of the themes of my writing.  I also have an incredibly sarcastic sense of humor and I do not believe that two have to be mutually exclusive.  The purpose of this blog is growth...for all of us who choose to interact here.  My promise to you and to myself is to always be honest, open and kind in everything that I write and to always seek the silver linings in life.  These are the qualities that I look for in a friend and they are the qualities that I offer to you.

I have much more that I can and will share with you; however, like any good relationship, these stories will unfold over time.  So, join in and let the journey begin!
